Frugal Friday: Free Cosmetics!
Posted in Bargains, Fashion, Frugality, General Life on January 23, 2009 | Leave a Comment »
So, after bible study Wednesday night, my darling husband dashed me off to Macy’s before they closed to take part in the cosmetics settlement (which I was included in, having purchased items within that time frame). We got there about 20 minutes before 10:00 PM and they were already out of everything except for the [...]

DH and I have the day off, but we won’t be here! I’ve got Shaw’s half-way done, and hope to finish it and Stop & Shop tonight when I get back…depending upon when that is, of course! But it’s in the works!

WFMW-Bleach

Simple. Efficient. But I–at a recent date I’m too embarrassed to admit to–had no idea of this. Bleach seemed…scary. Like if I touched it, holes would burn through my skin and ruin my clothes. (I did accidentally ruin the bathroom rug, but whatever, it was old anyways).
However, the bane of my home-keeping existence was [...]

I’ve mentioned before that I’ve started to get “into” fashion. What I have not gotten into is paying exorbitant prices for anything. And, I have to admit, that some of the “designer” items aren’t exactly replaceable with pieces from Wet Seal and Forever 21. Hmm, a quandary.
Enter the sample sale sites. They’re collections of perfect [...]
Free Admission Thursday Night to ICA
Posted in Bargains, Deals, General Life on January 19, 2009 | Leave a Comment »
So excited! Target (the store we all know and love) is sponsoring free nights at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston every Thursday from 5PM-9PM. Also noticed that families with children under 12 can also get in free on the last Saturday of every month (except December) as well.
Right now, it looks like they’ve [...]
Menu Plan Monday
Posted in Frugality, General Life, Menus on January 18, 2009 | 8 Comments »
My classes start up this Tuesday (Inauguration night, of all nights!), and that has traditionally heralded the beginning of not-great-menu-upkeep; my primary sore spot of finding the time to make meals, thus keeping our food costs down.
Now, with working full time (plus often overtime), taking two classes (one online, one in the classroom), and with [...]

Match-Up Birthplaces
All the coupons you see come primarily from the Boston Globe, and often from the NH Union Leader Sunday Papers. There are sometimes slight differences, but are identical most weeks. The dates are the dates for each week's paper and the codes stand for the coupon inserts.
For example:
SS=SmartSource
RP=Red Plum
GM=General Mills
PG=Proctor & GambleI also use printable coupons from various manufacturer sites, as well as the sites coupons.com and smartsource.com. When this is the case, I'll add a link.
Finally, "tear-pad" and "blinkie" coupons are those found in the aisles at various stores...for a reasonably up-to-date list, check out the "tear-pad alert" below.
Circulars and in-store coupons can vary however. I base my sales data off of circulars and stores from the North Shore, except for Hannaford's, which I get from Southern NH.
