I know alot of couponers do the whole “price book” thing which I don’t do but I probably should…
Anyways, what is your experience with nonsale items at Shaw’s? I basically only have Hannaford and Shaw’s to choose from so what I have been doing is getting sale items at Shaw’s and any other grocery shopping at Hannaford because it seems a bit cheaper in that respect.

I tried to keep a price book but gave up pretty quickly…I find that just paying attention each week I know what’s a good deal and what isn’t…and then I can always search back in my archives here if I forget!
“Good” prices are all relative to where you can shop–for me, Shaw’s non-sale prices are exorbitant, but that’s because I can run to Market Basket down the street.
Between Hannaford and Shaws, they’re pretty similar in my experience and can go back and forth from week to week. However it seems that Hannaford has much cheaper store brand items, which could give them the edge.
Basically, you know your stores–if you find that’s the cheap way, then by all means go that way! We all buy different non-sale items (I hang out in the organic and International aisles…you might not), so if that works for you, then good job in figuring it out.
