I have a new frugal obsession. Swagbucks. Sounds totally wrong, doesn’t it? But it’s not, which is Just. So. Weird.
Premise: You search–like we all do a million times a day–and get points.
Then, you take said points, and buy amazingly useful things like $20.00 Target e-gift cards (Cost: 220 Swagbucks, or SB) , $10.00 Barnes and Noble e-Gift cards (115 SB), or $5.00 Starbucks gift cards (50 SB). I’ve been signed up for about a week and have 75 SB already…I could have a FREE $20.00 at Target by the end of this month! By the end of every month! I average getting anywhere from 5-10 SB a day, never mind the “codes” for free SB that they post on Twitter, Facebook, their blog, and site; it’s like a day-long scavenger hunt that adds such a thrill to searching for “recipes with cream cheese” or “homemade cleaners.” I live my life, and get some cash. I already search a bajillion million times a day; this is paying me to just go about my daily business.
*update* They also seem to have greatly improved their search engines: originally I wasn’t getting consistently good results, but I’ve been totally satisfied recently. They’re rolling out improvements by the day…airline miles now included! I’m more psyched than ever–and only about a week away (Feb. 14 here) from my $20.00 gift card…that’s only about a month and a half worth of searching!
