I’ve mentioned before that I’ve started to get “into” fashion. What I have not gotten into is paying exorbitant prices for anything. And, I have to admit, that some of the “designer” items aren’t exactly replaceable with pieces from Wet Seal and Forever 21. Hmm, a quandary.
Enter the sample sale sites. They’re collections of perfect merchandise, some “brand” designer, some “indie”, all being sold at amazingly, shockingly, discounted prices. We’re talking hundreds to thousands of dollars off the retail price. Now, a $20,000 bag discounted $15,000 dollars isn’t exactly going to help any of us, but I’ve gotten $60.00 shirts for $20.00, and a $350.00 lined, wool skirt for just under $100.00.
I shop with a list, and when I find myself needing or wanting something, I put it on my rotating “want list.” And I just sit back, wait, and look through my favorite sites until the item I’m looking for pops up…or doesn’t, in which case I just go to Target.
But for you ladies who’d like to up your wardrobes at a fraction of the cost, here are my favorite sites:
Rue La La My Favorite. Love the design, the designers they feature, and they have a good rotation time. It’s invitation only, so click the “invited by a member” option and you can use my email nesaving (at) gmail (dot) com.
Hautelook My other favorite! Excellent rotation, long view time, great images to view up-close, and they have some of the most unique jewelry I’ve seen.
Ideeli* Another invite-only; the link will get you in. This one features TONS of giveaways though, which the others don’t, and pay-options to upgrade for early shopping.
*Wordpress doesn’t seem to like this link since it has part of my URL in it. If you copy and paste this link, it should work: http://www.ideeli.com/invite/nesaving
Editor’s Closet: Another invite-only; again, if you want to join, you can use my email nesaving (at) gmail (dot) com as the referrer email. I haven’t been a member that long myself, but it definitely seems like they trend towards the more expensive.
Gilt Groupe Great featured designers with a different emphasis on housewares and men’s clothes, but they also tend to have the more expensive prices. I haven’t bought anything with them for that reason.
The Top Secret The Sales from The Top Button site…my least favorite, since they only have maybe 1 sale every other week, and the clothes are never that good.
GomattaGirls Individual pieces instead of entire collections, which is sort of annoying.
The Saavy Not that many sales, and they don’t have the best designers.
Love the blog – going to try these sites out – thanks for the tips!!
This is neat! I checked out and bookmarked the first two. Ideeli was a bad link for me though. Could you please check it?
Thanks Julep!
I’m not sure why that link won’t work…I think because it has part of my URL in it.
Anyways, try copying & pasting this:

and you should be good to go!
Thanks,
Kat
