My great-great-great-something grandfather arrived in Essex, Massachusetts in 1654. We haven’t left New England. I currently live in Massachusetts (North Shore) and grew up in New Hampshire (just outside Manchester), with close relatives living in VT, ME, and CT. I adore everything about this region—autumn yes, but also Dunkin Donuts, insane driving, the non-rhotic ‘r’, the attitude, the Red Sox and the Patriots. New England rules, even if we don’t have crazy-Kroger sales like the rest of ye. So, here are my efforts to live frugally in a region where a 2-bedroom condo will put you $300,000 in debt.
For now, my awesome husband and I live on the North Shore in an early 19th century triple-decker—3rd Floor—three blocks from the beach, two blocks from downtown. We both work full-time and I studiously grind down my undergraduate classes in the evenings & on weekends.

cute stuff, great gifts
we would love if you would blog the sale and let your readers know!
Great site. It is so nice to see the bargins listed for grocery stores in my area. Seems like other websites on the web focus on Publix and Krogers, which we have none of in New England.
Thanks for posting these deals. They do help this New England Yankee!!
Lisa
Thanks, Lisa, that’s definitely an encouragement! Glad you stopped by. 🙂
Hi Kat, Lisa told me about your site, I look forward to reading it and finding bargains. I am in Southern NH and have recently started coupon shopping and shopping at Shaws. was a Market basket shopper until 3 months ago when I discovered the joys of coupon shopping.
Like your blog; couldn’t agree more about living in New England……D&D , Red Soxs. living close to the ocean…..beats Krogers in my book any day .
And I live in one of those $300 thousand townhouses….and the hubby 57 won’t be able to retire until he is 87 ,,,,if we don’t watch our spending so I am also here trying to be frugal and get the best deals.
Like you and many I love the 4 seasons however; they don’t love me anymore. Dx with Auto Immune diseas so I today I am a x-nurse paralegal on disability hoping to retire someplace warm.
Love the site!
Check out all there of my blogspots.

Love this website, just found it today while trying to find an updated market basket circular. My resolution for this year is to save more money across the board so I am really trying to plan meals around deals, and this website is a big help. Thanks.
Just found this website today. Thanks so much for the Hannaford’s coupon matching. That will help me so much. Great job!
I’m always glad to hear it’s helpful–thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Hi Kat — I saw your comment on Deal Seeking Mom, so came by to check it out! I’m in Upstate NY, so I can’t claim to be a New Englander (although I went to Dartmouth, so for four years I got to pretend).
I’m looking forward to reading your blog!
Stop by if you get the chance; I’m at http://goodtrueandbeautiful.blogspot.com
Thanks Sharon! Glad to have you here.
This is a great site for finding all the sales. My only question as a newby is where you find all the coupons?
Thanks, Kim! The coupons come from the Sunday Paper–Boston Globe or the Union Leader have the most, though some smaller papers also provide some. If I find them elsewhere, I put a note specifying that, i.e. “tear-pads”, blinkies, or specific limited-time booklets.
yay! someone with market basket deals!
I am so glad you have Market Basket and Hannaford’s. 🙂 Keep up the good work.
Hello, my name is Sarah, and we run a site called A Thrifty Mom (http://athriftymom.com) We have had articles written on our site in New York, New Jersey, Minn, Penn, Utah, Idaho, California. And the Rachael Ray Show contacted us last week to be in a upcoming show by video. We are looking for sites to share info with and love your site. We are wondering if you would like to have your Shaws, and or Stop and Shop deals posted on our site. This would draw a huge increase in traffic to your site. Of coarse all credit would be given to you and link backs to your site. Please let us know if you are interested.
Thanks
Sarah
Kim,
I too am a New England frugal bargain shopper, and have been discouraged by Market Basket not posting their flyer online anymore. Thanks for keeping it current. I will now bookmark your site to check from now on. Keep it up. Thanks.
I am so excited to have found this site! Yeah! You can bet I will be back. This is the only place I can find Market Basket and Hannaford listings. Great job!
Thanks for passing along new england deals! such a find.
just found the site today I live in waltham ad was tring to find cheap lobster! hopefully I can get $4 lb lobster before the end of the summer, I have bookmarked the page and will check back often. Thanks
Very cute bio! Having migrated north from NJ to live in MA to be with the man of my dreams, shortly after marriage buying our home we now live our happily ever after being frugal but happy! We settled into Leominster, MA located in Northern Worcester County where buying a home meant starting our family, our son is our world. I provide frugal meals and shop mostly at Market Basket for boxed items but meats are better quality at Shaws of Hannaford where I go depends upon the sales that week, so I will be bookmarking your blog and checking in weekly.
THANK YOU, this site is VERY helpful…

Hi, thanks so much!! Always glad to be of help…and I’m in the Methuen/Haverhill region all.the.time so I’m always glad to “meet” folks from the area.
Thanks for the great information! I’m new to New England–just moved from the Midwest–and new to coupon shopping. Your site is a great resource.
Loved this site. Heard of it at WinnipesaukeeForum. Wish we had things like this when I was younger and feeding a large family! Thanks for sharing with others and Happy Wishes for a great 2010! Oyster
Oh, that’s great! Happy Holidays to you as well. 🙂
Hi Kat,
I just stumbled across your site and I absolutely love it! I read lots of other coupon blogs, but they all tend to be in the Southern states so their grocery deals never apply to me — its awesome to finally find a list of deals at my local stores! 🙂
I shop at Market Basket all the time so hope you’ll keep posting their sales or maybe I will just have to try the other stores you list.
Thanks! 🙂
Glad to hear it’s helpful! That’s exactly why I started blogging–all my favorite sites focused on the south, and I figured if I was figuring out the deals each week anyways…why not post them? 😉 Market Basket is definitely my favorite, but sometimes another store will surprise me with a good sale, so I like to keep tabs on them all. Happy holidays!
Hi, Kat- i wanted to email you info on a promotion from Hannaford (a chance to win a year’s worth of groceries and have a catered Super Bowl party). What is the best way to reach you?
Rebecca
