They may not be the most frugal deals EVER, but when I see them, I take them.

Most deals trend towards high-turn over items. Around here, a lot of Italian; a lot of corporate-backed convenience items; a lot of just plain popular foods. So, for those of us who still have *exotic* (rolls eyes) backgrounds, having sales on our food stuff of choice is just plain marvelous.

This week at Market Basket is looking pretty good for little ‘ol Middle Eastern me…and not too bad for American hubby either. So, my menu for the next week with all the groceries I plan to get at Market Basket (I’ll be hitting Shaw’s too, for what it’s worth):

The List:
Tip Steak/Kebab $4.49/lb.
93% Lean Ground Beef $2.99/lb.
Chicken Breast Cutlets $2.99/lb.
Carando Sliced Pepperoni $1.79
Sorrento Ricotta Cheese 2/$5.00 (2/$3 w/ MB coupons)
Chobani Greek Yogurt 6-oz 5/$5.00
Joseph’s Dips 2/$5.00 (Tzatziki)
Tahina al-wadi $3.99 for 16 oz
Jasmati Rice Select $3.99
Hunts Tomatos $0.99
Eggplant $0.99
Green Peppers $0.99
*Lemons
*Garbanzo Beans
*capers

Which will be turned into:

Homemade Baba Ganouj
Homemade Hummus
Imam Bialdur (Eggplant with tomato & onion sauce)
Stuffed Green Peppers (a traditional Iranian dish!)
Kebabs with green peppers & onions over rice….provided it doesn’t snow on grill day again!
Tarator-Lebni or Mast-o-Khiar for the Kebabs (yogurt dishes)
and then for the man:
Homemade pizza with pepperoni & veggie toppings
Lasagna with ground beef sauce
Chicken Piccata over rice

But I’m soooo excited. Tahini on sale! Eggplant! Greek Yogurt! Rice! The only thing missing is the saffron…
